As most anyone who has ever met me will tell you, I am of the opinion that volleyball is the greatest game in the world. I love playing volleyball, watching volleyball, teaching volleyball, talking volleyball and studying volleyball in an effort to understand the game a little better. I have been incredibly fortunate in the things that the sport has done for my life. I enjoyed a career that took me to State and National Championships, earned a full scholarship to college, played with some of the greatest players in the country and for some tremendous coaches, and played in a number of different countries. As a coach I have had the opportunity to work with players of all ages and skill levels, coach amazing athletes across the country, develop life-long relationships with terrific young men and women, and travel and coach in countries all over the world. I can’t take credit for any of those things – volleyball was the vehicle that afforded me every single one of those opportunities and more. But more importantly, playing volleyball gave me the tools to handle life’s challenges and succeed in the things I have set out to do; in school, at work, and in my personal life. Besides being FUN, volleyball is the ultimate team sport. Without the genuine teamwork of every player on the court, gravity will always win out and the ball will hit the floor on your side. Through commitment, responsibility, unselfishness, sacrifice, discipline, and hard work, a group of individuals can learn how to win the war against gravity and make the ball fall on the opposite side of the net. The lessons learned in throughout the process are those that I wish to share with your son or daughter. It is my hope that I can give the gift of volleyball to as many people as I can, young and old.
Peninsula Juniors Volleyball Club consists of Peninsula Juniors and Peninsula Tribe, the girls’ and boys’ divisions of our club, respectively. Our staff consists of qualified and caring men and women who appreciate the mission of PJV and strive to give our players the most positive experience possible. We operate with a growth mindset that ensures that we are always improving as individuals and as a club, with a focus on the importance of commitment, enthusiasm, and integrity.
