Peninsula Tribe Club Volleyball originated in the Summer of 2003 as an outlet for the members of the Junipero Serra Volleyball team to gain additional experience in the High School off season. Peninsula Tribe was one of the first male club teams on the San Francisco Peninsula and continued to serve the volleyball players at Serra High School until 2006. These Tribe teams were highly successful both during the club season, but that successes transferred to their respective high school seasons as well.

There was a one year hiatus for Peninsula Tribe in the Fall of 2007. In previous years, a player of a parent would take the lead for Tribe and handle the administrative portion of the team. However, with majority of the returning players graduating and no one to take the reins, Tribe did not field a team for the Fall 2007 boy's club season.

Realizing the need for a boy's club program in the San Mateo area, new Serra varsity volleyball coach Eric Ballelos decided to restart Tribe. Former Serra varsity and Tribe coach Chris Balestrieri suggested that Tribe should work together with Peninsula Juniors. With that in 2008, Peninsula Tribe Volleyball Club was "adopted" by Peninsula Juniors to serve the growing need for boys club volleyball on the Peninsula. In addition, Tribe opened its doors to all boys in the San Mateo area. The Tribe gives boys the opportunity to train and compete in the NCVA Power League and gain experience for their junior high school and high school seasons. Carrying just one team until 2009, the Tribe has increased its ranks to two, offering a team in the 14 and 18 and under age divisions in 2010. Although the players, philosophies, and staffs have changed since its inception, Tribe remains dedicated to encouraging the growth of not only its players, but also to fostering the growth of boys volleyball as a sport in the San Francisco Area.
